You display a beautifully machined brass tube with a solid bottom and lid. The tube is just the right length and diameter to hold a pack of candy lifesavers; like the ones you just removed from your pocket to perform this illusion. You slide the pack of lifesavers into the tube and put the lid on. The tube and its contents are now given to a spectator to hold. You then produce and vanish a colored silk streamer in your favorite way (e.g. a thumb tip). After a magic word or two, the spectator is asked to remove the lid and the lifesavers from the tube. However, when they look inside, the pack of lifesavers has vanished and in it's place is found the silk streamer! Now to complete the trick, you remove the missing pack of lifesavers from your pocket and present them to the spectator as a souvenir in exchange for the brass tube and silk streamer. Remember, throughout the routine the spectator has complete control of the brass tube, since you never touch it again until the silk has been removed by the spectator. Beautiful magic, and one of my favorites! No sleight of hand is involved in the performance of the trick - just showmanship.
